The reason for creating a pre-fader send from the guitar track is so that you can bring the guitar fader down, and monitor only the FX Channel as you adjust the settings for the Expander and Pro EQ. Therefore, only the peaks become brighter. Those peaks then pass through a Pro EQ, set for a bass rolloff and a high frequency boost.
